Why this site exists

Most cat product reviews are written for a household with one cat and a lot of free time. Multi-cat homes have different problems: boxes that fill in a day, one cat that steals another cat's prescription food, a fountain that runs dry by Tuesday, and a wanderer who slips out the door every time a delivery arrives.

Clever Whiskers covers the gear and habits that make that kind of home run smoothly. Automatic litter boxes, water fountains, feeders, trackers, and the smaller things like litter, odor removers, and supplements. We focus on what changes when you have two, three, or five cats instead of one.

Our cats

The site is run from a home with several cats of different ages, sizes, and temperaments, which turns out to be the best possible test lab for this category. One of them is a large, cautious adult who hates enclosed boxes. One is small enough that most trackers are too heavy. One will eat anything that is not locked up. Product pages will name the cats as we add hands-on tests.

How we decide what to recommend

• Hands-on first, when we can. A guide labelled "Hands-on tested" means the product lived in our home for weeks, not an afternoon. See how we test.
• Owner reports second. When we have not tested something yet, the guide says so plainly, and the pick is built from hundreds of owner reports, manufacturer documentation, and independent teardowns. We look for the complaints that repeat, not the five-star reviews.
• No live prices, no star ratings. Prices change weekly. We give a range and a verdict, and the "Check price" button takes you to the retailer for the current number.
• Health is a vet's job. Where a topic touches urinary health, kidneys, weight, or supplements, we explain what is known and tell you what to ask your vet. We do not diagnose and we do not claim a product treats or cures anything.
